Where do I start?
Your best bet is contact me for an initial consultation. I have been in your shoes! Trying to help your child, while navigating all the "stuff" can be overwhelming! Let me help ease your mind!
Do you do in-person tutoring?
At this time, all tutoring is done online via Zoom.
Can you REALLY be effective receiving instruction online?
Yes! You absolutely can! I was a first grade teacher when the world shut down due to Covid, and that experience still haunts me! However, I have completed a 100+ hour practicum working with students online. I am also a member of Online with Ease Masterclass, which allows me to constantly sharpen my already proficient tools. If you have any doubts, please reach out! I would be happy to share more!
Do you provide neuropsychological testing and reporting?
No. Only a psychologist can provide this testing and actual diagnosis. However, I can provide detailed assessments, reports and plans to meet your child's individual needs.
What grade levels do you work with?
I am able to work with kids ages 5 through adult! It is never too late to take control of your literacy success!
How long does OG tutoring last?
Many new students in the Orton-Gillingham program often have gaps in essential literacy skills, including phonological awareness, understanding letter-sound relationships, syllable division, spelling, and word structure (morphology). Consequently, tutoring time varies depending on each child's needs.
How will I know if my student is making progress?
I will collect data and reflect upon the performance after each lesson. I constantly use this data to further drive my instruction to best meet the needs of your child. I will periodically provide updates to parents via email.
Will you be able to help me, as a parent of a struggling reader?
Absolutely! I have been in your shoes. I know what it is like to watch my child struggle with reading/spelling tasks and not know what to do. I am here for BOTH you and your child each step of the way!
